02 Jun 09 Why is it only women’s clothes that have back fastenings?

It seems to me that only women’s clothes have back fastenings/zips: bras, some skirts and dresses, some swimsuits.

Except for a few specialized clothes like wetsuits, I don’t know of any male clothes that have back fastenings.

Why is this? Why is it only women who have to deal with back fastenings? Surely they are a lot less convenient than front fastenings? Are there any “everyday” male clothes that fasten at the back?
Someone said that women don’t have back fastenings on shirts and pants. I have pants with a back zip and one of my friends has a blouse that buttons up the back.
